Stephen White is a Management and Executive Coach and founder of Competitive Edge Coaching based in Burlington, Ontario. His firm specializes in providing Management and Executive Coaching and Human Resources consulting services to small to medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
Over the course of his thirty-nine year career Stephen held several senior Human Resources generalist and specialist positions in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, he was Senior Manager, Human Resources and Policy Compliance with Scotiabank in Toronto where he was responsible for the design, development and implementation of Scotiabank’s Occupational Health and Safety Program. Stephen also spearheaded the design of the Bank’s policy development function within human resources, as well as regulatory reporting for the Bank. Previously, his background included various Human Resources roles including recruitment and talent management, employee/labour relations, compensation, succession planning, benefits and HRIS.
Stephen graduated from McMaster University with an Honours B.A. in History and Political Science, and later went on to complete Masters degrees in Public Administration (M.P.A.) and Industrial Relations (M.I.R.) from Queen’s University. He also hold a Certificate in Adult & Continuing Education from the University of Saskatchewan (CACE), and an Advanced Certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution from the University of Windsor. Stephen has been certified by the Ontario Ministry of Labour as a Joint Health & Safety Committee representative.
Since 1985 Stephen has been a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association, Halton Chapter, and currently holds the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation. He received his Certified Professional Coaching (CPC) designation in May 2016 from the College of Executive Coaching in California, and in June 2017 he was awarded the Associate Certified Coach designation (ACC) from the International Coaching Federation. Stephen is also certified to administer the EQ –i 2.0 and EQ 360 assessment tools.
Stephen is deeply committed to helping those facing workplace and career challenges. From 2012 to 2014 he was a volunteer Mentor with the Halton Chapter of the HRPA, and in 2015 initiated the first coaching support program for unemployed Human Resources professionals. Stephen is a member of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and also serves on the Chamber’s Political Action Committee.
